HEMS通信技術の国際的権威の方々が神奈川工科大学を訪問
2018年12月19月（水）、HEMS通信技術に関する視察の一環で、Richard Shomberg氏（IEC Ambassador）、Sureswaran Ramadass氏（エコーネットマレーシア）、梅嶋真樹氏（慶應義塾大学サイバー文明研究センター所員・大学院特任准教授）の3名が神奈川工科大学を訪れ、小宮学長、谷村専務、河野常務、一色教授が一行を歓迎しました。
前日の12月18日(火)には、「IoT時代におけるECHONET Lite」をテーマにした国際シンポジウム※1が開催されており、この3名の方々もプレゼンテーションやパネルディスカッションに参加されました。
本学来訪では最初に、神奈川工科大学のHEMS通信技術に関して、HEMS認証支援センターでの相互接続性検証の試験環境整備や、製品やサービスの開発用ソフトウェア、技術者支援教育などへの取り組みをご覧いただきました。※2

その後の小宮学長との意見交換では、神奈川工科大学の取り組みなどに関して、海外展開の推進や、教育・研究を両輪とした国際連携の重要性、ビジネス・教育の両面における課題について活発な議論が交わされました。
Shomberg氏は、IEC標準であるECHONET Liteの相互接続性を担保する活動の進展に感銘を述べ、神奈川工科大学の取り組みを高く評価されました。またSureswaran氏は、アジアのインターネット研究をリードしてきた自らの経験を踏まえ、世界への発信を一緒に進めたいとのコメントしました。そして梅嶋氏は、日本発の国際標準規格ECHONET LiteをIoT技術としても国際規格にしましょう、との期待を込めたコメントを述べました。
小宮学長からは、大学としてHEMS通信技術に関する取り組みを推進していくため、スマートハウス研究センターを中心に、今後さらなる発展に向けた支援と連携強化をしていただくようお願いしました。
今回の訪問は、今後本学において世界へ発信できる研究を推進し、関心をもっていただける取り組みを一層推進していくため、連携強化に向け非常に意義のあるものとなりました。

Persons of authority in HEMS communication technology visited Kanagawa Institute of Technology from overseas.
On December 19th Wednesday, 2018, three persons of authority, Mr. Richard Shomberg (IEC Ambassador), Mr. Sureswaran Ramadass (ECHONET Malaysia), and Mr. Masaki Umejima (Project Associate Professor at Graduate School of Media and Governance, and Researcher at Cyber Civilization Research Center, Keio University), visited Kanagawa Institute of Technology(KAIT) as a part of international interaction of HEMS communication technology; President Komiya, Senior Managing Director Tanimura, Managing Director Kono, and Professor Isshiki welcomed the party.
On the day before, 18th Tuesday, those three persons attended the presentation and panel discussion in a symposium with a topic of "ECHONET Lite in the IoT Era".

In their visit to our university, our testing environment at the HEMS Interoperability Test Center, our support software to develop products and services, and our effort on engineer training were presented as the HEMS communication technology of KAIT.

In the opinion exchange with President Komiya et al afterward, fruitful discussion was done on the effort of KAIT, especially on promotion of oversea deployment, the importance of international linkage in both training and research, and the issues on business and education; Mr. Shomberg stated how deeply impressed with the progress of activity to guarantee the interoperability of IEC international standard "ECHONET Lite" and also highly appraised the effort of KAIT. Mr. Sureswaran made a comment, based on his experience leading the internet technology research in Asia, that he would expect a joint dissemination of HEMS to worldwide. Mr. Umejima expressed his expectation that ECONET Lite, a Japan-originated international HEMS standard, should also become a standard in IoT technology. President Komiya replied by asking them a favor on support to and cooperation with our Smart House Research Center, in order to further promote the HEMS communication technology of KAIT.
We, Kanagawa Institute of Technology, continue promoting the research that can be disseminated to worldwide and also be of interest. Their visit was very meaningful for strengthening the future collaboration.
